Who need Schengen visa?

Schengen visa is required to enter in Europe for tourism purpose by all national of their country not part of visa liberalization agreement with Schengen member state, if you are member of any of the following country you would be required to apply and obtain Schengen visa before entry into Schengen area. Any member of Schengen country can issue you with Schengen visa.

European union currently has agreement with 59 countries outside EU, which mean if you national of any of these countries you will not be required to apply for Schengen visa. They can travel by using biometric passport to enter and satay without needing visa. However, EU has introduced ETIAS like many other countries and I will become operational in May 2025, which mean no one will be exempt from prior entry, they would be required to obtain ETIAS entry authorisation before entry.

Documents required for Schengen visa.

To make a successful application you must provide all of the following documents, any information missing may lead to refusal of applications or delayed the process.

• Signed completed, Schengen Visa Application Form.

• ID documents such as Passport.

• Two passport size Photograph.

• Schengen Travel Insurance covering relevant period.

• Copies of Previous Visas if any.

• Flight Itinerary corresponding with application.

• Cover Letter giving details information about application.

• Proof of Funds to cover your trip.

• Proof of Accommodation during your visit such as hotel reservation.

• Proof of Paid Fee of application.

Do family members of EU require Schengen visa?

This will depend on nationality of applicant and documents you use for travelling in to Schengen area, being family member of EU does not necessarily mean that you can travel into Schengen area without needing visa, however if you family member of EU national it will be alleviated faster by meeting certain criteria.

Can travel any country into Schengen area?

If you hold valid Schengen visa you can travel into any country within Schengen aera depending on the reason for visiting you may be issued with single entry, double entry, or multiple entry visa. However, you cannot stay longer at second destination longer then first, so for instance if you have applied successfully for Schengen visa for France with multiple entries, you are planning to travel Germany for 10 day this would means you will have to stay in France more then 10 days to be eligible for entry into Germany.
